  • Community Stroll - September 25, 2021

    Saturday, September 25, 2021.

    Downtown Battle Creek, Festival Market Square. 

    All ages are welcome to stroll with us along the 1/2 mile or 1 mile routes. People-friendly pets are welcome too. Participants can enjoy walking, drumming, painting, music and dancing, photo booth, and more. Also learn about how Miles for Memories safe return programs can help your loved ones.

    This event raises funds and awareness about all forms of dementia. Together, with our dedicated volunteers, we develop programs, support preventative research at MSU, and provide training for the person living with dementia, their caregivers, professionals, and community members as part of our efforts.

  • Thank YOU Celebration - January 2021

    January 31, 2020, 6-8pm.

    NorthPointe Woods, Battle Creek

    Reported at the January 2019 Celebration:

    Sponsors and volunteers were invited to learn all about the year completed and the goals of the upcoming year. With the efforts of the leadership team and community volunteers over $40,000 was raised to support a growing number of programs. 

    Awards were presented for:

    • Largest team,

    • Leadership team volunteer of the year,

    Presentations were also made on the success of programs, pilots, and research, along with comments from Beth Hutchison, a community member whose family benefited from many of the programs throughout the year. 

    All those in attendance were served delicious brain-healthy food and beverages, compliments of NorthPointe Woods.

    2018 sponsors are shown below. Their support allows Miles for Memories to develop and manage programs for individuals living with dementia and their caregivers where they are today, right here in the community they call home. Please be sure to thank them for their support.

  • Cinco After Party - POSTPONED

    Saturday, May 9, 2020, 2-9pm.

    Festival Market Square

    Downtown, Battle Creek, MI. 

    Enjoy a piece of the Hispanic heritage from food to activities and music. Food and beverage vendors on site as well as craft vendors. Fun and learning for the whole family. Games for the kids, dancing, rock painting, Zumba, and so much more. Sit or dance to the wonderful music of three bands including Groupon Plazer, Stacked, and Celestina Y Los Sanchez. 

    You will also have an opportunity to learn more about what Miles for Memories can do for you or a loved one through a variety of lifestyle and learning programs, all in a non-intimidating environment. And a special visitor this year is the Miles for Memories inflatable brain that you can walk through and learn more about dementia and other conditions that impacts the brain.

  • Rock-A-Thon - POSTPONED

    Friday, May 15, 2020, 9am-7:30pm

    Calhoun County Medical Care Facility
    1150 East Michigan Avenue
    Battle Creek MI 49014.

    The Calhoun County Medical Care Facility Rock-A-Thon will be a full day of activities this year. Rock with us outside the facility or join us inside for the silent auction and raffle held in the Community Room.

    Visitors will be able to learn more about the Help Home program and have the opportunity to purchase a Personal I.D. bracelet for a loved one. The new Great Minds Pedagogy Brain Train will be onsite as well. 

    Join us as we rock to promote awareness of dementia, raise funds for Miles for Memories, and support Calhoun County residents with dementia and their caregivers with overnight respite.

    This event is one not to be missed. Donations of painted chairs, raffle items, and silent auction items are always welcome.

  • Miles "FORE" Memories Golf Outing - POSTPONED

    August, 2020, Cedar Creek Golf Course, Battle Creek, MI.

    Registration 8am / Tee time: 9am shotgun start

    $65 per person or $250 per foursome.

    Includes golf, cart, snacks on the turn, lunch afterwards, and lots of fun along the way. Bring extra dollars to participate in the specialty holes, raffle, and more to really enjoy this scramble to the fullest. 

    You or your business can provide additional support and sponsorship:

    • $100 Tee sign
    • $300 Event Hole - special activity at a hole, includes a tee sign
    • $500 Event Sponsorship - includes tee sign and a foursome

    The golf outing raises funds for our outreach and lifestyle programs for all ages. Ranging from Vineyard of Memories painting to Melodious Memories music and educational opportunities, these dollars are important for critical programs that support the individual and caregiver right where they are in their personal journey.

  • Spin For Miles - POSTPONED

    NOTICE: The Spin For Miles Event is being POSTPONED due the the Coronavirus COVID-19.

    The event was scheduled for Saturday, March 14, 2020, 7am-2pm ... it will now be schedule for a later date.

    Family Y Center, Battle Creek MI.

    $20 per 30 minutes. 

    Your $20 donation will support the Miles for Memories personal I.D. bracelet program creating peace of mind for the caregiver of the person with dementia. 

    Participants will receive the 2020 spinning T-shirt. Additional T-shirts can be pre-ordered or can be purchased at the event while supplies last for $15. 

    Everyone coming out that day is invited to bring a photo of a friend or loved one impacted by dementia to be added to the Memory Wall. The Memory Wall will travel to different events throughout the year.

    Learn more about the Help Home Program, including the personal I.D. program and the soon-to-be-released G.P.S. bracelet at the event. I.D. bracelets will be available for purchase.

    The registration form can be printed below. Create a team or spin along with a group of new friends. A team donation goal of $300 will help sponsor a GPS bracelet for two years for a person that may wander.

  • Murder Mystery Dinner - POSTPONED

    NOTICE: The Murder Mystery Dinner Event is being POSTPONED due the the Coronavirus COVID-19.

    The event was scheduled for Saturday, March, 2020, 6pm ... it will now be schedule for a later date. 

    NorthPointe Woods, Battle Creek. 

    Join in on the adult brain games and help solve the mystery. You will be asked to play the role of one of the dinner guests, dress in attire for your character, and enjoy a great dinner with drinks to boot. Proceeds to benefit Miles for Memories.

    Early registration required by April 18, 2020.

    Tickets: $40/person or $75/couple. 

    Late registration is $45/person or $85/couple.

    Did you know that movement can help reduce your risk for Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias... Even painting has proven to have a positive impact. Join us to help raise awareness and funds to support local dementia programming for the individual and the caregiver.

    In addition to offering painting programs specifically for those impacted by dementia and and their caregivers we also offer an opportunity for the community to enjoy the same benefits from our Vineyard of Memories painting program. 

    You can adopt a resident or paint your own if you would like. $30 Per Person. Snacks and wine will be served.

  • Wine Not - POSTPONED

    Location: Delta Hotels by Marriott, Kalamazoo Conference Center

    This event is coordinated by Townsquare Media and has been sold out for the last two years. Proceeds from this event benefit the work of Miles for Memories. 

    Through this collaboration with Townsquare Media we are also able to share information about our programs and how the community can get involved.

  • Caregiver Retreat - October 21, 2020

    Wednesday, October 21, 2020, 9am-2pm. 

    First Congregational Church, 145 NE Capital Avenue, Battle Creek, MI. 

    The day is free to Caregivers. Registration is required. Brunch and lunch will be provided. Ask about respite availability.

    CAREGIVER - Any upaid individual who regularly assists a loved one with personal care, household chores or health issues.

    This annual event brings you an update on the impact of Miles for Memories through research. Learn about the partnership with Michigan State University and enjoy presentations from MSU Research Professors Dr. Scott Counts and Dr. Graham Atkin on the latest in the diagnosis and treatment of dementia. This year will feature newly published information relating to vascular dementia as well as provide a glimpse of the Elder Educators program with medical students at MSU. This event is free with light refreshments. Seating is limited.

    A special visitor to the event this year will be our newest teaching tool, the inflatable brain. Walk through the brain for a hands-on and larger-than-life glimpse at how what we do impacts our brain and the potential onset of dementia.

  • Adopt-A-Highway - POSTPONED

    Come join us to beautify the community that we call home. Miles for Memories has adopted the interchange at I-94 and I-69. Several times each year we head out and help to keep our community clean. Event dates are generally spring, mid-summer, and early fall. Many hands make light work and two hours later we can enjoy the cleansing impact we have made on our community. 

    Be sure to wear long sleeves and pants. Gloves, bags, safety vests, and laughter will be provided. Kids are welcome when accompanied by an adult.

  • Miles The Brain

    The Great Minds Pedagogy Brain Train is designed to give the community an opportunity to learn about dementia is new way. 

    You are invited to walk through this oversized inflatable brain. It is 16' x 13' x 10'. Inside you will experience how the brain is impacted by different types of dementia. Lights and sounds will direct through your learning. Upon exiting the brain, you will receive additional information about Miles for Memories and dementia. 

    This is a great learning tool for those that are visual learners. Young and old alike will learn in this oversized visual.
